The Plattnerhof Viums is really in the heart of South Tyrol and is the perfect starting point for countless hikes all year round. In addition to the many hiking opportunities, there is also much to discover culturally in Fiumes and surroundings. The old town of Brixen with its cathedral and its beautiful artistic gems is well worth a visit, as are the monastery of Novacella, the castle of Rodengo and the fortress of Fortezza with its various exhibitions and events. Water lovers should not miss a dip in the natural pond of Varna, with its adjacent biotope area, and the many swimming pools, such as those in Bressanone and Rio di Pusteria, which invite for a refreshing break. The more ambitious ones can climb the walls of the "Vertikale" climbing center in Brixen and spend a fun day with magnesium powder on their hands.
Highlights among the many events in the area are the "Alpenflair" festival in June, the largest folk festival in South Tyrol, the blossom festival on May 1st, and the apple festival in October, when the apple queen is crowned each year.
